Eileen has taken audiences up and down the peaks and valleys of life at festivals, songwriter showcases, and coffeehouses throughout the DMV (District of Columbia, Maryland, and Virginia) and is excited to be in Nashville. “Endless Night,” off her No Place But Up EP, has been played on digitalrevolutionradio. Eileen's passionate writing and vocal jump style developed among lifelong influences as varied as Evanescence, Journey, Miranda Lambert, Katy Perry, Foreigner, Sara Bareilles, Keith Urban, Sheryl Crow, Green Day, Kacey Musgraves, and Gretchen Wilson. Fans compare her to Sheryl Crow, the Indigo Girls, Jewel, Sara McLachlan, and Stevie Nicks. A music career highlight was playing the community tent just before Three Dog Night took the stage in Havre de Grace, MD.

Music for the Peaks and Valleys of Life

This week on my journey through the peaks and valleys of life:

I got to play the legendary Bobby's Idle Hour with my accompaniast Gregtape before the venue closed down for good this month. Below this blog entry is a video of a new song, "Shades."

I am rehearsing with Greg for two hours of originals (well OK, there will be 3 cover songs) this Saturday, January 26 at the Tacky Turtle on Music Valley Drive in Nashville. The owner didn't blink an eye when I told her we wanted to do all originals. Yay! That's what I love about this place. Heck this store even has a stage with a full set of sound equipment so musicians don't have to lug quite so much gear.

Then it's back to the drudgery of searching for a full-time job. Even in Nashville, many places don't pay musicians to play. I met a singer-songwriter from LA who has made it part of her routine to comment with dry humor -- "One thing I learned coming here is at least in LA ya get paid."

That having been said, an exciting element of the Nashville music scene is the ubiquitous writers' round. Check out my calendar in the upper right for upcoming gigs. For my friends outside of Nashville, I'll let you know how it goes. For my friends in Nashville, I hope you can come on out!

And in case you were wondering, yes - I do miss the snow in Maryland.
